Description
“Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. …A man’s foes shall be they of his own household” (Matt. 10:34,36). These words from Matthew’s Gospel are not popular texts from which to preach a sermon or write a book. Indeed, it was with some reluctance that the author, Lillian G. Harvey, decided to tackle this subject, realizing that it would cut across much of the traditional thinking which most of us have imbibed from both Church and media.
But this traditional thinking leaves many Christians totally unprepared when household upsets arise because of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. By citing examples from both Old and New Testaments and from Church history, the author shows how abundantly Jesus’ words are found to be true in real life situations.
This book is not for every family. Godless parents will not heed it. It will not apply to compromising Christians who have purchased peace at too great a price. But we pray it may bless and enlighten those who have walked with God in full surrender and yet have not realized oneness with family members.
