Emma Booth Tucker
Emma Booth Tucker was the fourth child and second daughter of Catherine and William Booth. Emma married Frederick Booth Tucker, whose first wife had died in a cholera epidemic while laboring with her husband in India. Emma also went to India with her husband but also became ill while there. And so the couple was transferred to the USA and given charge of the Salvation Army in that country. Emma died in a train accident at the age of forty-three.
Love Me and Let Me Go
Love Me and Let Me Go
Why do we often smother those we love? Why do we cling onto them far past the time when they deserve to be their own independent selves? What are we afraid of? And why cannot we allow them to follow God in a path which perhaps we may not tread with them? We have taught them about God; we have tried to set them an example, albeit in our own flawed way. Then why can’t we trust them into the hands of the Almighty?
They Knew Their God Series
They Knew Their God Series
Does the series, They Knew Their God, written by Edwin and Lillian Harvey and published by Harvey Christian Publishers, present a standard of Christianity so high and so seemingly unattainable to most of us mortals, that it discourages rather than encourages the reader to get to know God in a more intimate way? We read in these six volumes of men and women who frequently spent half nights and whole nights in prayer, fasted regularly, sacrificed their own comforts in order to spread the Gospel, and considered suffering for Christ’s sake a pleasure rather than a cross. In the light of their devotion, our own seems painfully lacking. At other times, however, reading of these saints whets our appetite for more holiness, more purity, more zeal, and more love.
Mother of the Salvation Army—Call Back Series, Illness
Many of the books published by Harvey Christian Publishers are compilations; others are reprints; still others are the original writings of Edwin and Lillian Harvey. These books introduce us to many of God’s saints, some well known, some lesser known. I thought it would be helpful to scan these books and see how many women were mentioned and just who they were and what their role was in the Kingdom of God. So I picked up the book Illness, Volume One in the eight-volume “Call Back Series.”
The Royal Series
The Royal Series
The Royal Exchange, Royal Counsel and Royal Purposes are the first three books in the “Royal” series and were among the first books written and compiled by E. F. & L. Harvey. They were published in the 1960′s. Each book contains thirty-one short readings—one for every day of the month. Royal Exchange is on the subject of prayer, Royal Counsel on the Word of God, and Royal Purposes on the purposes of God in suffering. Then came Royal Insignia in 1992. It is a much larger book—one hundred two-page readings on humility, the badge of every true believer in Christ. It is perhaps the most widely read of all the series and is considered a classic on the subject of humility. Finally, Royal Pilgrimage was published in 1999 and emphasizes the fact that all followers of Christ are pilgrims and strangers on this earth. Their citizenship is in Heaven.
The Royal Series are published by Harvey Christian Publishers and are available in their Online Christian Bookstore.

It focuses on the Biblical truth that we, as Christ’s followers, are strangers and pilgrims here on earth. Here are some of the chapter headings to whet your appetite:
