This book is the unabridged, original War on the Saints with appendices. It has 325 pages, is a hardcover with jacket and has proved to be a somewhat controversial description of ways in which the enemy tries to confuse, deceive and oppose the work of God. Evan Roberts, whose nerves had suffered as an aftermath of the Welsh  Revival in which he had played an important role, collaborated with Jessie Penn Lewis in the writing of this book. It is not easy reading but will help those who do read it to understand both the emotional and spiritual dangers of events such as spiritual revivals. There is much in this book that must be respected, because it was written by two revival veterans.  It was only available in an abridged version for many years because the original publishers, The Overcomer Literature Trust, decided that some statements were too extreme and so omitted them. Thomas E. Lowe, Ltd. is to be credited for restoring the original in 1973. The central issue of this remarkable book is demon influence on Christians—a subject that is highly controversial but worthy of prayerful consideration.  After all, did not our Lord instruct us to pray: “deliver us from evil”? This book, read with caution, could be part of the answer to that prayer.
