Wanted—deeds, not words

“Son, go work today in my vineyard” (Matt. 21:28).

We must insist on instant activity. We need less dress parade, less reviews, more results. Rust is killing off tens of thousands. The vineyard suffers for lack of workers. The harvest needs laborers. We have a thousand well-wishers where we have a score of real soul-savers.—Reader Harris.

What proportion of people do you suppose have ever tried to take the teachings of Christ seriously in any given century? My guess is a very small percentage. Most people who have troubled themselves to learn what Jesus Christ really said and did, don’t do anything about it. So how can you be surprised when the result is so poor? Christianity—the real thing—has never failed. But it hasn’t been given a fair chance to work, by most people. Don’t blame Christianity for the mess the world is in. Blame people—maybe yourself.
